If you're feeling unwell and need to log a sick day in Supportbench, you can do so easily through the New Event window. This ensures your time off is properly recorded and visible to your team. Follow the steps below to create a "Sick Day" event in the calendar.
Navigate to the Calendar
Go to the Calendar module within Supportbench. OR
Click on ‘New Event' from the add a item +.
This will open the event creation modal.
Fill in Event Details:
Subject: (Required) Enter a clear title such as “Sick Day – [Your Name]”.
Start/End Date: Choose the date of your sick leave.
If you're out for the full day, check the "All day event" box to remove the need for time input.
Timezone: Confirm your correct timezone (e.g., E. Australia Standard Time).
Select the Category
From the Category dropdown, choose Sick Day to classify the absence correctly.
Assign the Event
Under Owner, confirm your name is listed.
Select an Agent if this applies (e.g., your manager or a backup teammate).
Set a Color (Optional):
Assign a calendar color if you want your sick days to stand out visually.
Additional Fields:
Summary: Add any notes if needed (e.g., “Out due to flu”).
Attendees: Add any managers or coworkers who need to be notified.
Send Notification (Optional):
Ensure “Send from default address” is checked if you want to send a calendar invite or alert.
Click ‘Save Event'
Once all information is complete, click Save Event to finalize.
Always use the "Sick Day" category to ensure your time off is tracked accurately in reports.
If you plan to be out multiple days, adjust the start/end dates accordingly.
Notify your team via internal channels (chat/email) as a backup to calendar entries.
