    In KB > All Articles, the Creator column shows the person who originally created the article record.

    This view is intended for:

    • article management
    • record ownership/history
    • identifying who first created the article shell

    It answers the question: Who created this article record?

    Reporting > Knowledge Base Reports > Top Authors

    In Top Authors, the report credits the first meaningful authoring action on the article. This means it looks at the first person who submitted the article for review or published it.

    This report is intended for:

    • author performance reporting
    • contribution tracking
    • identifying who first actively moved the article into the authoring workflow​​​​

    In essence: if one person created the article shell, but another person was the one who actually submitted or published it, the two screens will credit different people.
     

    It answers the question: Who first authored or advanced this article in a meaningful way?
